For the past six months or so I have always prayed that God will make my heart right before shows. I realized tonight that I have been praying the wrong thing.
It is my responsibility to make my heart right, not God’s. For me, this is hard. As it should be. There are so many personalities around me at any given time and so many things that I am involved in all over that it is often hard to make things “right” with people twenty five minutes before I have to be in front of people worshiping. An utter impossibility, the only issues I can correct are the ones that involve me.
Tonight in our Pnuema pre-service meeting my friend/mentor/pastor, John Driver, worded my “make your heart right” thought differently. He said ask God to “cover your (our) hearts”. Man, that struck a chord deep down in the recesses of my….ok, you caught me I just wanted to say recesses. Anyway, tonight I learned that I cannot ask God to make my heart right, I can make right what I can, and then ask him to cover me by his grace so that I can give 100% of my worship to him.
Allow yourself to make adjustments to your heart and then ask God to cover the rest.
